Matt has dedicated his entire career to advocating for injured clients.
Matt first joined MacGillivray Law as a summer research analyst. Inspired by founder Jamie MacGillivray, he returned to article under Jamie’s mentorship. Matt became an associate in 2020 and was elevated to the partnership in 2024.
An accomplished litigator, Matt has successfully represented clients at all levels of court in Nova Scotia.
Before embarking on a legal career, Matt honed his research and analytical skills while serving as a legislative aide at the House of Commons, Parliament of Canada.
Matt remains actively engaged in his community. He served on the executive of the Pictou County Barristers’ Society for three years, holding the roles of Secretary/Treasurer and Vice President. Most recently, he was appointed to the Motor Vehicle Appeal Board for Nova Scotia.
Originally from Stellarton, Matt now lives on Frasers Mountain with his wife and daughter.
