Charlottetown Office Opening Soon

Our Charlottetown office is coming soon to 228 Grafton St, just minutes from downtown Charlottetown and easy to reach from anywhere on Prince Edward Island. This location is currently under construction, and we can’t wait to open our doors to the community. When it’s ready, it will be home to a team of lawyers, paralegals, and support staff who live and work right here on the Island — and who care deeply about the people they help.

We’re designing this office with our clients in mind. Because many of the people we help are recovering from injuries or navigating difficult times, we’re making sure everything from the parking lot to the meeting rooms is comfortable, accessible, and stress-free.

In the meantime, if you’d like to learn more about how we help people with personal injury or insurance claims in Charlottetown, you can read about our services here.

Our Charlottetown Office Experience

Free On-Site Parking

Fully Accessible

Private Meeting Rooms

Coffee & Snacks

Virtual Meeting Options

We know the last thing you want before an important meeting is circling the block looking for a parking spot. The Charlottetown site includes free, on-site parking right at the building — no meters, no permits, no time limits. When the doors open, you will be able to pull up to the front, take a deep breath, and we will be ready to welcome you inside.
Our Charlottetown office is being built so that everyone can visit comfortably. Accessibility is part of the design rather than an afterthought: if you use a wheelchair, walker or cane, or have any other mobility needs, you will find moving through the space easy and unobstructed.
Legal matters are personal, and the conversations you will have with your team often involve sensitive details about your health, your finances and your family. That is why private meeting rooms are part of the plan — quiet, confidential spaces where you can talk openly without worrying about who might overhear. Each room is being set up to be comfortable and well lit, so you can focus on what matters: your story and your case.
Whether you have travelled across the city or driven in from out of town, we want you to feel at home the moment you arrive. Once we open, you will be welcome to help yourself to fresh coffee, tea, bottled water and a few light snacks in the reception area. It is a small thing, but we believe small things matter — especially when you are already dealing with so much.
Not every client can, or wants to, come into an office, and that is perfectly okay. If you are recovering from an injury, living outside Charlottetown, or you would simply rather meet from the comfort of your home, we can meet by video over Microsoft Teams, Zoom or FaceTime — and we can do that today, while the Charlottetown office is still being built. You will get the same attention, the same care and the same legal expertise as you would in person.

What Our Clients Say...

MacGillivray Law Office was outstanding from start to finish. They truly listened to me, did everything I asked, and were extremely knowledgeable while also being very comforting throughout the process. They always had an open-door policy and took the time to explain things in a way I could actually understand, which made a huge difference. I never felt rushed or talked down to. 10/10 — I would absolutely recommend them.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long do I have to file a claim in Charlottetown?

In Prince Edward Island, you generally have two years from the date of your accident to file a personal injury lawsuit. However, some exceptions apply. Don’t wait – contact our Charlottetown office immediately to protect your rights.

What if I was partially at fault for my accident?

Prince Edward Island follows a contributory negligence system. Even if you were partially at fault, you can still recover damages reduced by your percentage of fault. For example, if you were 25% at fault for an accident, you could still recover 75% of your damages.

Will my case go to court?

Most personal injury cases in Charlottetown settle without trial – approximately 95% resolve through negotiation or mediation. However, our willingness to go to court strengthens your negotiating.

Can I handle my claim without a lawyer?

While you have the right to self-represent, insurance companies have experienced legal teams working to minimize payouts. Studies show that injured people with lawyers receive significantly higher settlements, even after legal fees.
