Stephanie Leahy is a Partner at MacGillivray Injury & Insurance Law in Moncton, New Brunswick, and practises in both French and English. She was called to the New Brunswick Bar in 2016 and has ten years of legal experience. She represents people who have been injured in accidents and people whose insurance benefits have been denied.
Stephanie holds a B.Sc.Kin. and a J.D. from the Université de Moncton. She is originally from St. John’s, Newfoundland, and grew up in communities across Atlantic Canada, so this region and the people in it are not an abstraction to her.
She has appeared before the Court of King’s Bench of New Brunswick, the Provincial Court of New Brunswick, and the Provincial Court of Nova Scotia, where she acted in criminal proceedings at a previous firm.
Stephanie is a member of the Law Society of New Brunswick and the Canadian Bar Association.
Because she is fluently bilingual, her Francophone clients can describe what happened to them, and how it has affected their lives, in their own language: to her, and when it comes to that, on the record. In a personal injury or disability claim, where so much turns on how precisely a person can convey pain, limitation and loss, that is not a small advantage.
Her background in kinesiology is directly useful in this work. Injury claims are built on medical evidence, and understanding how the body moves, how it is rehabilitated and how it fails helps her read a medical file critically and ask the right questions of experts.
Outside of practice Stephanie spends her time with her children and enjoys the beauty Atlantic Canada has to offer.
