Three MacGillivray Law Articled Clerks Called to the Bar
MacGillivray Injury and Insurance Law is proud to announce that three of our articled clerks have been called to the bar in Nova Scotia. This is an exciting milestone for our team and the clients we serve across Halifax and New Glasgow.
Abdul Kareem, Elisa Akcakiryan, and Rylee McLean have each brought dedication, compassion, and a strong commitment to personal injury law throughout their time with us. We are proud to see them take this important step in their legal careers.
Abdul Kareem
Abdul Kareem brings a wealth of international legal experience to MacGillivray Law. He completed his BA-LLB in Pakistan in 2019 and was called to the Bar in Pakistan in 2020, where he practiced in both civil and criminal law before moving to Canada.
In August 2023, Abdul Kareem pursued a Master of Laws at Dalhousie University in Halifax under the prestigious Schulich Scholarship. Following the completion of his master’s degree in 2024, he worked as a legal assistant in Edmonton while successfully completing his National Committee on Accreditation (NCA) examinations.
He joined MacGillivray Law as an articled clerk in 2025, completing his articles under the supervision of Mr. Ali Imran Raja at our Halifax office. On April 10, 2026, Abdul Kareem was officially called to the Bar in Nova Scotia.
Elisa Akcakiryan
Originally from Oromocto, New Brunswick, Elisa completed her Juris Doctor at the University of New Brunswick before relocating to Halifax in 2025 to begin her articling term with MacGillivray Law. On June 17, 2026, she was called to the Bar in Nova Scotia.
Elisa is passionate about helping clients navigate the challenges and uncertainties that can arise after a personal injury. She is committed to providing compassionate support throughout the legal process — from the first consultation to final resolution.
Outside of the office, Elisa stays active through early morning workouts, enjoys spending time
Rylee McLean
Rylee is originally from Greenhill, Nova Scotia and earned her Bachelor of Arts from St. Francis Xavier University. Before joining MacGillivray Law as an articled clerk, she completed her Juris Doctor at the University of New Brunswick which included a semester abroad at the University of Graz in Austria. On June 17, 2026, Rylee was called to the Bar in Nova Scotia.
Outside of work, Rylee loves spending time in nature and travelling to new places.
