MacGillivray Injury Law’s website continues to improve its user experience with a new focus on accessibility integrations with its recent launch of the AccessiBe accessWidget. With the AccessiBe interface, users can customize the MacGillivray Injury Law website to their individual accessibility needs.
The widget will make modifications based on the accessibility challenges the user faces, including visual, cognitive and motor impairments. These customizations will change how web users interact with our website content; fonts can be enlarged, contrast can be added, and colours can be changed. This function will be a welcomed change for individuals who rely on these features.
MacGillivray Injury Law firmly believes that the Internet should be accessible to anyone and is committed to providing a website that is accessible to the broadest possible audience, regardless of ability. We believe that this is especially true in the legal profession, as an inaccessible website can become a barrier to justice for a person living with a disability. We understand that adopting this isn’t the only change we must make to be WCAG 2 compliant, however it is a step we have taken to reach that standard.
Thirty percent of Nova Scotians aged 15 years or older have a disability, according to a report drafted by Nova Scotia Health and IWK Health. Furthermore, Nova Scotia has a higher percentage of disabled persons than any other province in Canada. By integrating this tool into our website, MacGillivray Injury Law is taking strides to better serve Atlantic Canadians.
To use this tool, click on the small button on the bottom-left side of the screen featuring a red wheelchair symbol. From there, navigate to whichever accessibility feature may be necessary to assist your experience on our website.
MacGillivray Injury Law knows that many of our clients who have been in serious accidents may have accessibility challenges in their recovery and beyond. By enabling this feature, our firm will be working towards improving access to justice for people living with disabilities. For MacGillivray Injury Law, it is a small way for us to recognize the challenges our clients may face and do what we can to help.
