MacGillivray Cares.

MacGillivray Law is privileged to operate across all four Atlantic provinces. Given the personal nature of the work that we do, our firm feels connected to these communities; we understand the challenges that are faced by our clients. MacGillivray Law supports initiatives and people across Atlantic Canada because we have a responsibility to improve the communities we operate and live in.

MacGillivray Law currently runs three programs: a data breach and billing investigation against Nova Scotia Power, the MacGillivray Law Art Grant, and legal action on social media harm to young people.

Data Breach and Billing Errors

MacGillivray Injury and Insurance Law is investigating the viability of a class action lawsuit against Nova Scotia Power related to the data breach in early 2025. If you received a letter related to this data breach, please provide your contact information using the form below. Filling out this form does not retain our firm; it is only a mechanism to receive further communications related to the viability of a potential action.

Update: We are preparing a formal complaint asking the Nova Scotia Energy Board to take action.

MacGillivray Law Art Grant

MacGillivray Law is partnering with Studio 116 in New Glasgow to give emerging Atlantic Canadian artists a space to share their work, without the cost of commission. Each selected artist keeps 100% of their sales, plus $2,500 for art supplies and a $2,500 boosted Facebook post targeting the Atlantic Canadian collectors. No fees. No cuts. Just a chance to be seen, supported, and celebrated.

Social Media Harm & Addiction

Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube were intentionally designed to create addiction in children and teenagers. The companies knew this was linked to rising anxiety, depression, self-harm, and eating disorders in young users, yet they chose profit over safety.

Our children are our future, and their wellbeing matters more than any company’s bottom line. That is why MacGillivray Law is taking legal action against Meta and Google to advocate for young people’s mental health and to stand with the families who have felt this harm firsthand.

Atlantic Food Security Initiative

Rising grocery prices, food insecurity, limited access to high-quality produce, and a general disconnect between consumers and where their food comes from has become an issue in Atlantic Canada and across the country. These challenges are shaping the lives of families and farmers and are prohibiting people to live full and healthy lives. In Atlantic Canada there is an abundance of farmland, fisheries, and a strong agricultural history; MacGillivray Injury Law wants to do what we can to support our local community.

In 2024, MacGillivray Law is running a grant program for small farmers, vendors, and non-profits that work in producing local food for local consumers.
