When Two Brandons Go to Trial: What Our Courtroom Readiness Means for You

Brandons go to trial

This week, two of our attorneys, both named Brandon, went to trial for our valued clients: Brandon Walzak from our St. John’s office and Brandon Baker from our Moncton office. It is a moment that captures something we believe deeply at MacGillivray Injury Law: when a case calls for it, we are ready to stand up in court and fight for the people who trust us with their claims.

Most personal injury cases never reach a courtroom. The vast majority of car accident, slip and fall, and long-term disability claims settle long before a trial date arrives. But our willingness to go to trial, and the experience to do it well, is exactly what makes a strong settlement possible in the first place.

Why Trial Readiness Changes Everything

Trial work demands preparation, focus, and a deep commitment to advocacy. That readiness is what sets us apart, and it shapes every case we handle from the very first day.

When an insurance company knows your lawyer is prepared to take a case all the way to court, they treat that case differently. A claim backed by a trial-ready legal team carries weight. It signals that the evidence has been gathered, the arguments have been built, and the lawyers across the table are not bluffing. That leverage often leads to fairer settlement offers, sooner, without a client ever having to set foot in a courtroom.

Think of it this way: a passive approach rarely moves an insurance company. Simply hiring a personal injury lawyer and hoping for the best does not create pressure. But a lawyer who has documented the case properly, assembled the right evidence, and is genuinely prepared to litigate gives the insurance adjuster something they cannot ignore. That is the difference between a claim that stalls and a claim that gets taken seriously.

Experience That Carries Into the Courtroom

Our lawyers are seasoned litigators with extensive experience in courts across Atlantic Canada. Over the years, our team has secured more than 100 written court decisions while fighting for fair compensation for clients across Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, and Prince Edward Island. Each of those decisions represents countless hours of careful preparation and a real commitment to the person behind the case.

That experience means that if a trial does become necessary, we know what to expect. We understand local court procedures, we know how to present a case effectively, and we can focus entirely on advocating for our clients rather than learning as we go.

Confidence for the People We Represent

There is another benefit to trial readiness that is easy to overlook: peace of mind. When you know your legal team has genuine courtroom experience, the entire process feels less intimidating. You are not left wondering whether your lawyers can follow through if negotiations break down. You know they can, and so does the insurance company.

Being trial-ready is not just a stance we take. It is at the heart of what we do, and it is a large part of what helps us secure the compensation our clients deserve.

Thank You

A sincere thank you to both Brandons for their hard work this week, and to the clients who placed their trust in us. Cases like these are a reminder of why we prepare every file as if it could go to trial, because that preparation is what protects the people who count on us.
