Janus Siebrits

Avocat

Janus Siebrits is a Partner at MacGillivray Injury & Insurance Law in Halifax, Nova Scotia. He has been engaged exclusively in personal injury and insurance litigation, with a focus on long-term disability claims and motor vehicle accident litigation.

Janus earned his LL.B. at the University of South Africa in Pretoria and practised as a member of the Western Cape Provincial Bar before coming to Canada. He was called to the Nova Scotia Bar in 2006 and has 20 years of legal experience.

He appears regularly before the Federal Canada Pension Plan Disability Tribunals, the Supreme Court of Nova Scotia and the Nova Scotia Court of Appeal.

The reason this work matters are simple, and Janus does not think its cynical to say it plainly: insurance companies are businesses, and they do not make money by paying out money to their insureds. They will often look for a reason to refuse or delay a payment. The person on the other end of that decision is usually just trying to receive what they were already promised and have already paid for. Realistically, their only recourse is to get help: nothing more than what they are entitled to, and nothing less.

Janus is a member of the Atlantic Provinces Trial Lawyers Association and the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association.

When he’s not fighting for his clients, Janus can be found spending time with his family.
